We specify and install premium lighting from our manufacturer partners, including Lutron, Ketra, DMF Lighting, Proluxe, and Garden Light LED, as part of our design and installation projects. On select occasions we provide fixtures alone, but only when they are part of an architectural lighting package we have designed, or when a partnered architect or interior designer has specified them. We do not sell single bulbs or operate as a retail showroom.
We are a lighting design and installation contractor, not a retail store. We do operate a private showroom by appointment only, where clients can experience Ketra natural lighting and Lutron HomeWorks control systems in person before specifying them for their home. The showroom is a design tool for our clients and professional partners, not a retail location. We don’t sell individual bulbs or fixtures to walk-in customers. Our work is the design, specification, installation, and control of complete lighting systems for residential clients throughout the Washington DC Metro area, Montgomery County MD, and Northern Virginia.
For complete architectural lighting packages that we have designed, or that a licensed architect or interior designer has specified, we can provide fixture-only fulfillment. We do not sell fixtures à la carte for DIY purchase. The value we provide is professional design, specification, and installation, not retail fulfillment.
Yes, regularly. We collaborate with architects, interior designers, builders, and other industrial professionals throughout the DC Metro area to deliver lighting design and installation services for high-end residential projects. We can work from another professional’s specification, or provide the complete lighting design ourselves.
A lighting store sells products. We design and install systems. A typical residential project includes layout design, fixture specification, control system integration (Lutron and Ketra), professional electrical installation, and post-installation programming and support. We focus on lighting quality, including color temperature, color rendering (CRI), glare reduction, dimming behavior, and circadian appropriateness. These are factors that retail stores typically don’t guide homeowners on.
We maintain a limited inventory of lighting systems and samples to support common repairs, replacements, and showroom demonstrations, but most projects are custom-ordered. Every fixture we install on a new project is specified and ordered project-by-project from our manufacturer partners (Lutron, Ketra, DMF Lighting, Proluxe, Garden Light LED) based on the design requirements for each home. This ensures clients receive the right fixture for each space, with the correct beam angle, color temperature, dimming compatibility, and aesthetic match.
Our projects range from single-room recessed lighting installations and chandelier replacements to whole-home lighting design with Lutron HomeWorks control systems and Ketra circadian-tuned LEDs. We take on retrofit installations in completed homes, dedicated control system upgrades for clients moving from standard switches, major renovations, and residential new construction. We also handle architectural lighting packages on behalf of architects and interior designers. Project durations range from a single service call to multi-month renovation collaborations.
As early as possible, ideally during architectural design, or before drywall goes up. Lighting placement affects ceiling layout, framing, and electrical rough-in. Bringing us in during pre-construction lets us coordinate with your architect, builder, or interior designer to plan fixture locations, switching, and control system wiring before the walls close up. We also work with completed homes for retrofit installations.
Our showroom is open by appointment only and is intended for clients and professional partners actively planning a lighting project. It’s an experiential space designed to let you see Ketra circadian-tuned lighting and Lutron HomeWorks control systems in action, including how light quality changes throughout the day, how scenes feel in person, and how shading integrates with lighting. If you’re considering a residential lighting project in the DC Metro area, book a consultation at newagedc.com/book-a-service and we’ll arrange a showroom visit as part of the design process.
